Documents, OCR limits, exports, and local processing.

A PDF will not open

  • PDFs above 500 MB or 1,000 pages are rejected for safety.
  • If macOS shows a permission error, reopen the file from File → Open to refresh file access.
  • A malformed page may be skipped while other pages remain editable.

OCR results

  • Text PDFs use PDFKit; scanned pages use Apple Vision OCR on this Mac.
  • OCR quality depends on scan resolution — 300 DPI scans recover best.
  • Every recovered passage links back to its source page in the Sources navigator.

Exports

  • Export to Markdown, HTML, paginated PDF, or DOCX with Standard or Reading presets.
  • Use “Open in Browser” for a typeset HTML preview.
  • Nothing is uploaded at any point in the export pipeline.

Support email tips

  • Include the Markloom version, macOS version, what you expected, and the exact error.
  • Do not send confidential documents.
  • You may optionally attach the local usage summary from Settings → Privacy after reviewing it.
