Permissions, storage, purchases, and picking help.

Screen Recording permission

  • macOS requires Screen Recording permission before any pixel can be read.
  • Grant it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording, then relaunch PixelSpy.
  • PixelSpy reads only the pixel you pick and never records the screen.

The hotkey does nothing

  • Check that the shortcut is enabled in PixelSpy → Settings.
  • Another app may own the same shortcut — pick a different combination.
  • The picker can also be opened from the PixelSpy menu bar item.

Purchases & restore

  • PixelSpy Pro is a one-time unlock, not a subscription.
  • Use Restore Purchases in Settings after reinstalling or changing Macs.
  • Apple handles charges and refunds at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Where data lives

  • History, projects, tags, and notes stay on your Mac.
  • There is no PixelSpy account and no cloud sync.
  • Export creates files you choose in the macOS file picker.
